Obituary of Dorothy-Frances Viau


TALMAGE, Dorothy Frances - passed away at Extended Care Unit, Welland Hospital on Monday, March 3, 2008 in her 92nd year. She was predeceased by her husband William Joseph Talmage (1982), her parents Joseph Philias Viau (1970) and Mildred Viau (1937), brother Raymond Viau (1988), sisters Beatrice Simone (1990), Minetta Fader (1991) and Elsie Viau (2006) and son-in-law Jack Price (2000). Surviving are her children Joan Price-Panetta (Frank) of Fonthill, Allan (Joanne) Talmage of Fenwick and Robert Talmage of Mississauga. A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed by her granddaughter Jayne Hlywka (Alex) of Port Colborne and grandsons Scott (Annette), Todd, David (Chris) Price of Welland, Michael (Sharon), Kevin (Laura) Talmage of Toronto, Paula Baxter (Chris) of Fonthill and Ashley and Tiffany Talmage of Mississauga. Dorothy was blessed with 11 great- grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Justin, Emily, Adam, Hannah, Daniel, Sally, Brendan, Isabel, Natalie and Ethan. Born in Welland on June 28th, 1916 Dorothy was baptized in the Roman Catholic Church and was a devoted parishioner of St. Augustine's Church for many years. She attended Welland South School and was working at the Coronation Beauty Shop when she married William Talmage. During their 45 years of marriage they raised their three children in the Broadway area and the Talmage family, through active participation in the community became well known. Dorothy's kind and unassuming ways made her a family favourite with many nieces and nephews. During Dorothy's seven year residence at Extended Care she was well known by all and was often heard offering large sums of money for a push down the hall. She will be missed! The family will receive their friends at J.J. PATTERSON & SONS FUNERAL RESIDENCE 19 Young Street, Welland on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where her funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Peninsula Children's Centre or Welland Hospital Extended Care. on line memories and condolences at www.jjpatterson.ca As a memorial tribute, a tree will be planted in Memory Woods.
