HALLOWELL -- Donald Clark, 49, of Hallowell died July 30, 2005, after a long battle with lung cancer.He was born in Roseville, Calif., on Nov. 30, 1955, the son of Gerald and Alzada Clark.Donald's father's career took the family many places. He attended schools in Virginia; New Jersey; the International School of Bangkok, Thailand; Texas; and the University of Maine at Augusta.While in Thailand, Donald, his three brothers and his mother did volunteer work at the School for the Blind. His kind and caring side showed in many other ways. He believed in helping those in need. He enjoyed his work on the board of directors for the Family Violence Project and adopting a family from the Family Violence Project for Christmas, asking family, friends and co-workers to make this family's Christmas special. Donald was pleased to help with the construction of the skateboard park in Augusta.His adventuresome side showed in his enjoyment in riding his Harley and white-water rafting. After serving in the Army, he worked as a lineman for a cable company that took him to several states. After coming to Maine, he worked in the attorney general's office and was a tax auditor with Maine Revenue Service.Donald was predeceased by a brother, Greg Clark, in January 2005.He is survived by his parents; a son, Richard Clark; brothers Bud Clark, and Stan Clark and his wife, Kandee; and by his loving friend, Fran, and their pets Brandi and Selena. He also leaves a large extended family and many friends.Donald and his family appreciated the care given by Dr. Magioncalda and his staff, also the care given by the hospice personnel and the staff on A-1 and A-3 at MaineGeneral Medical Center.At the family's request, there will be no visiting. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. The Rev. Marc Pitman will officiate.
