Dexter Leon "Handsome" Smith, 50, Sarasota, died May 30, 2005. He was born Oct. 28, 1954, in Jasper and came to Sarasota from there in 1959. He graduated from Riverview High School in 1972 and was a concrete finisher and a member of Faith Deliverance Church. Survivors include daughters Katrina of Bradenton and Gelicia of Tampa; a son, Dexter Jr. of Tampa; his mother, Betty S. Jenkins of Sarasota; a sister, Sharon Phillips of Houston; a brother, Ira Jenkins Jr. of Sarasota; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, with a wake service from 7 to 8 p.m., at Jones Funeral Home. Services and burial will be in Jasper.
