Obituary of Daisy-E. Morris


AUSTIN MORRIS, DAISY E., 56, died Friday at the home of her sister and caregiver, Patricia Diane Dixon, in Lexington, IN. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lyons and Daisy J. (McAllister) Lyons. She married Charlie Morris Jr., who preceded her in death on February 15, 2000. She was the former owner and operator of the old Daisy's Beauty Shop in Austin, a former clerical assistant for Boron Petroleum Company in Seymour, IN, and a former employee of Morgan Foods in Austin. She was also a licensed realtor and the owner of several area real estate investments. She was a member of Scaffold Lick Baptist Church near Blocher, IN, and a life resident of Scott County, IN. She was a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #6582 in Scott County and a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #234 in Scottsburg, IN, the old Austin Optimist Club, where she was the former chairperson of the Just Say No Project for Scott County School District #1, and the Indiana Hairdressers Association. She was an associate member of the Veterans of Vietnam War Era and the former chairperson of the National Hairdressers Associations. She retired in September of 2004 as a sales representative for Avon products after 21 years. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Dixon, M.J. LeCompt and Anna Elizabeth Jordan, and a brother, Franklin David Lyons. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Ann Brown (Benny) of Crothersville, IN; brothers, Robert E. Lyons of Hanover, IN, Jerry Lyons of Scottsburg and Carroll Junior Lyons of Louisville; her sister and caregiver, Patricia Diane Dixon (Keith) of Lexington and sisters Fannie Eversole of Madison, IN, and Hazel Danner (Charles) of Eminence, KY; three grandchildren, Amber Morris and Charity and Ben Brown; and one great-grandson, Spencer Wayne Morris. Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Interment: Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation: 4- 8 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday.
