TUSCALOOSA Cynthia Elizabeth Wigger Williams (Mrs. Wheeler S. Williams), of Tuscaloosa, passed away from this life July 2, 2008. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel with The Reverends Jim Webster, Norman Williams, and John Hassell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Mrs. Williams was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Ira Wigger on November 18, 1910, in Perry County, being the oldest of their eight children. The family moved to Hale County when she was nine years old. She married Wheeler S. Williams on November 18, 1928, and they were happily married for almost 53 years. Wheeler went to his Heavenly home August 1, 1981. They lived near Greensboro, Alabama until May 1977, when they moved to Tuscaloosa to be nearer their children. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three grandsons, Stephen Craig Armstrong, Joseph Ira Williams, and Robert Wheeler Williams; one son-in-law, Jimmy H. Armstrong; four brothers, Joseph David Wigger, Ira Howard Wigger, Cleopas Wigger, and Jesse Willard Wigger; and one sister, Ruth W. Owens. Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughters, Nelda A. Williams and Sarah W. Armstrong; and her son, David Wayne Williams (Doris), all of Tuscaloosa; one granddaughter, Cynthia A. Files of Northport; one grandson, E. Dewayne Williams (Kristi) of Moundville; five great grandsons, Patrick Files, Parker Files, Forrest Williams, Brennon Williams, and Landon Williams; and two sisters, Frances W. Bamberg and Lucille W. Bamberg of Marion. She loved her family dearly. Mrs. Williams accepted Christ and was baptized at ten years of age, and she lived an exemplary Christian life. She was reared as a Baptist. After her marriage she became a member of Mt. Hermon Methodist Church and was a member for about 50 years. Upon moving to Tuscaloosa, she and her husband joined Cottondale United Methodist Church. She was an active member until she became disabled in August 2004. She gave devotions, taught the ladies Sunday School Class and was a member of the Sonshine Club. She enjoyed traveling, especially to historical places and homes of the U.S. Presidents. She appreciated everything done for her and would always smile and thank them. She was a rare Southern Lady and will be greatly missed by her family. Her two daughters became the caregivers of their precious mother, alternating a week at the time, for the past four years.Pallbearers will be Dewayne Williams, Forrest Williams, Patrick Files, Parker Files, Russell Bamberg, Randy Owens, L.E. Bridges, and Will Bamberg. Honorary pallbearers are all her nieces and nephews, members of her Sunday School class and the Sonshine Club, Circle I at First Christian Church, members of South Highlands Baptist Church, members of Skyland Park Garden Club, members of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, Rev. Scott Thayer, Rev. Jim Smith, Louise Terry, Sara Jo Yocum, Irene Hubbard, Dean Webster, Betty Wilson, Trellie Smith, Castilee Perkins, Savannah Norfleet, Lonnie and Kane Clay, Betty Clay, Sue Bridges, Mr. and Mrs. John Wallace, Hazel Massey, Faye Noland, and Dr. George Miller.
