Chester E. Smith, 91, of Glenville, NY, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Chester was born August 11, 1919, in Schenectady, NY, to the late Walter A. and Mary (Meron) Smith. Chester was a lifetime area resident and attended Scotia High School, Class of 1938. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a postal worker in Scotia, NY. Chester proudly served his country in WWII and took part in the European Theater. Chester is survived by his wife, Henrietta (Grosvenor) Smith, whom he married on October 23, 1949; several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his son, Marc Dean Smith. Services will take place at Bekkering-Ellis Funeral Home, Inc., at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY.
