Charles H. Godwin - Savannah -Charles Howell Godwin, 78, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. He was a native of Savannah and was raised at Bethesda Home for Boys. Mr. Godwin was a member of New Life Fellowship Church for many years and was a member of Gideons International. He served in the United States Army, serving in Japan at the end of WWII and also served in the National Guard for thirty-six years, retiring as a major. He was also a member of the Thirteenth Colony Barbershop Quartet. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Godwin, and his father Claude Godwin who was a founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Savannah. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Theresa Godwin, of Savannah, his son and daughter -in-law, David and Elaine Godwin, of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, his brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Ralph and Lois Godwin, of Interlochen, Florida, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2006 at New Life Fellowship Church, 12915 White Bluff Road with remembrances to the Charles Godwin Memorial Fund, c/o the church.
