Charles Daniel Gunther, 84, died Dec. 23, 2009, at his home. He was born in New York City and lived in Sebastian for six years, coming from Jasper. He retired as a lieutenant from the Coral Gables Police Department. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a member of the Fellsmere Historical Church, Florida Fraternal Order of Police and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his son, Charles D. Gunther Jr of Spring City, Tenn.; daughter, Donna Burtrem of Sebastian; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ebbie Ball Provenzano.
