-> Betty Speights Davis, 58, died Saturday, August 30, 2003 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She was a native of Charleston, SC, and lived in Savannah many years. She was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the One Hour Prayer at First Jerusalem Baptist Church on West 45th Street, Co-Chairperson of Pilgrim Baptist Church Youth Department, Bible Study, Assistant Teacher of Adult Class, Easter Program Advisor, Devotional Messenger for One Hour Watch at Jerusalem Baptist Church, devoted worker with New Zion Association, Lifetime member of the Prayer Band, Co-Chair of Sunday School Council, Co-Program Choir of Zion BTU, member of Mission Society and member of Pastors Aide Board. She attended Wallace High School of Charleston, SC. She graduated from Sol C. Johnson High School Class of 1963, Savannah Area Vocational Technical School as a LPN in 1973. Survivors: three daughters, Pamela Cooks of Summerville, SC, Arlene Jones of Savannah, and Rondi Geter of Hinesville; two sons, Levi (Verna) Davis, Jr., of Virginia Beach, VA, and Brister J. Davis of Ft. Jackson, SC; sisters, Lillie Speights of Atlanta, Phyllis (Allen) Parks of Columbia, SC, and Barbara LaPene of Savannah; brothers, Earl (Carol) Speights of Augusta, and James (Lisa) Williams of Columbus; stepbrother, Bernard (Margaret) Glover of Johns Island, SC; 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. Visitation: 7:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2003 at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 601 Morris Brown Drive. Bishop Kenneth Crawford, officiating. Burial: Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Greenpond, SC.
