MOORE, Betty (nee Mello)August 20, 1925 - June 23, 2012Betty Moore passed away peacefully in Calgary on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Betty was born in Darlington, England on August 20, 1925, the second of two children for Arnold and Margaret Mello. A registered nurse, Betty worked at the Ingham Infirmary in South Shields after the war where she met Dr. Maurice Moore. Betty and Maurice immigrated to Canada and were married in Ponoka, Alberta in 1952. They lived in several Alberta locations before settling in Calgary in 1961. Betty was predeceased early in life by her dear husband (1969) and her sister Audrey (1994). She is survived by her loving family; children, Anthony (Sheila), Edmund (Bonnie), Christopher, and Sheila (Terry Forsyth); grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer), Jacqueline (Stattler Fitzhenry), Andrew, and Paige and Chase Forsyth; as well as great-grandchildren, Cody and Donovan Fitzhenry, and Payton Moore. All the grandchildren and great-grandchildren called her Grandma, which was a great thrill to her and gave her much joy. She was very proud of her family. Through the last several years, Betty experienced issues with dementia and moved to Bow View Manor. Family visits to Bow View were many; special occasions and celebrations allowed her to enjoy visiting with family and friends. Good times were had by all. Many thanks to the caring staff at Bow View Manor. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in celebration of Betty's life at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. A Private Family Graveside Service was held at Queen's Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Bow View Manor (a division of the Brenda Strafford Foundation Ltd.) at www.straffordfoundation.org. In living memory of Betty Moore, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane.
