Betty Jane (BJ) Smith, was born January 27, 1926, and went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2008. She was always active in her Church, Quilting Guild, Garden Club, golfing, travel and family. Born in Barberton, Ohio, to Frank A. Buchanan and Grace C. (Ebert) Buchanan and lived in Akron, Barberton and Ashland, Ohio, prior to moving to Hollywood, Florida, (in 1961) then moving to Sugarmill Woods in 1987. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Duane Smith, and three sons and their families; Jeff and Trish Smith of Inverness and granddaughters KJ (with husband Dave Zipse in California) and Kelly in Miami; Robert (Bob) Smith, currently residing at Crystal River Health and Rehab; and Dan and Julie Smith of Ft. Lauderdale and granddaughters Jessica (with husband Joshua Smith in Washington, D.C.) and Jackie, also living in Washington, D.C. A memorial service will be held today at 3 PM, September 23, First United Methodist Church in Homosassa.
