Betty Alice Masters "Granny" King, 97, Lancaster, Ky., died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Christian Care Center. Mrs. King was a member of Lancaster Nazarene Church. She was a retired factory worker. Born June 21, 1910, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of Willie and Fairie Malear Masters. She married Johnny Lee King Sr., who preceded her in death. Survivors include sons, Gordon (Sally) King, Stanford, and Johnny Lee King Jr., Lancaster; daughter, Helen Talbott, Danville; special friends, Virginia Black and Glenna Metcalf; brother, Cephas C.J. (Mary) Masters, Crothersville, Ind.; sister, Thelma (James) Jewell, Austin, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Opal King; brothers, Leaford Masters, Herbert Masters, Harlan Masters; sisters, Mary Roberts, Opal Vanscoy, Naltie Browning and Jewell Frazier. The Rev. Daryl Hodge conducted funeral services Friday at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, Ky. Burial took place at Manse Cemetery.
