->Barbara Jean ThomasPoughkeepsie - Barbara Jean Thomas, 77, a resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on January 30, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a long illness. Born on October 30, 1934 in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Floyd Minkler and Edna Beatty. She married Sylvester Thomas who pre-deceased her. Survivors include her children: Paul Simmons & wife Evelyn of Dover Plains; Jeffrey Simmons & wife Sylvia of Poughkeepsie.; Gloria Burns of Tenn;Cynthia Simmons & Sharon Pittman both of Poughkeepsie.; David Simmons & Michelle Curtis; Jack Lee Goodman & wife Billie; all of Poughkeepsie Karen Douglas & husband Brian of Tenn.;.; sister: Joan M. Meyers; brothers: John J. Beatty, Jr., Ronald & Kenneth Beatty & Melvin & Larry Minkler. Barbara is also survived by many Grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by sisters Edna Beatty, Patricia Minkler; brother, Harris Minkler and daughter, Sandra Simmons.
