HENDERSON, Barbara July 26, 1919 Dec. 13, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Alice Henderson on December 13, 2009. Barb passed away peacefully at Glacier View Lodge in Comox B.C. Barbara is survived by her children: Scott Henderson, his wife Deborah Gohl, their children Molly and Lucas; Jane Henderson, her husband Mark Horne, their son Greg: and Lesley Henderson, her husband Mark Fleming, their son Justin: and Barbara's brother Brian Biart and his wife Lyn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Barb was predeceased by her husband E.S. (Ted) Henderson and sisters Betty and Bunty. Barbara was born in New Westminster on July 26th, 1919 and raised in the Burnaby Lake area. Upon completing high school, Barb began working at Yellowpoint Lodge, which with her innate executive abilities, she was soon managing. It was at Yellowpoint that Barb became known for her fabulous culinary delights, as well as her warmth and huge sense of fun. It was also at Yellowpoint that Barb met the love of her life, Ted who she married in 1948. Barbara was a woman of great independent spirit, a community activist and artist, and a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister in law and devoted friend to many. Barb's love and unwavering caring and support for family and friends, were an inspiration to all. Barbara and Ted moved to Vancouver shortly after their marriage and raised their children in West Vancouver, moving back to the Comox Valley after Ted retired. Barb's last several years were clouded with Alzheimer's disease, but with Ted's love and support, she lived a life of much joy during this difficult time. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of Barbara's wonderful caregivers, as well as the staff at St Josephs Hospital, the Comox Valley Senior's Village, and great thanks to the special care team at Glacier View Lodge. At Barb's request there will be no funeral but a Celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined but please feel free to consider a donation to the cause of your choice in Barb's memory. 578396
