Obituary of Barbara-Ann-Prentice Brown


BROWN, BARBARA ANN PRENTICE, daughter of the late Helen (Maurer) and George Reed Prentice, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at her residence with family by her side. Born in Louisville, KY, September 28, 1934, she was a retired surgical nurse for Audubon Hospital and was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the most giving inspiration to all who knew her. Barbara's greatest joy in life was her family. She gave from her heart to those who needed. Barbara Ann has joined her father and mother, a brother, George R. Prentice, Jr.; and two great-grandchildren in death. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband and best friend of 51 years, James W. Brown; daughters, Helen A. "Lynn" Murphy, Donna M. Hudson and Michelle L. Sowder; a brother, James Prentice as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 5915 Outer Loop, with burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Donations may be made to Hosparus of Louisville in her memory.
