Ashley Marie Williams SPARTANBURG, SC-- Ashley Marie Williams, 21, of Spartanburg, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Ashley lived a full life. She was passionate, inspirational and courageous in everything she did. Ashley was born in Charlotte, NC on August 29, 1991, to Terri Harris of Spartanburg, SC and Antonio Williams of Charlotte, NC. She was also the stepdaughter of Herman Peeler of Fountain Inn, SC. Ashley accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized at Majority Baptist Church when she was ten years old. Ashley was definitely a student athlete. She loved basketball but was also an excellent student. Ashley stated playing basketball for Greater Galilee Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC when she was five years old. She played basketball for a church league, UPWARD, AAU and Westgate Christian School. Ashley was also an excellent student. She was named Salutatorian of the Westgate Christian School Class of 2009. She graduated with honors from Spartanburg Methodist College in 2001. She was inducted into the Honor Society of the College of Professional Studies at St. John's University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. John's University in May of this year. In addition to her parents, Ashley is survived by her brother and best friend, Terrance Peeler of Spartanburg, SC; grandparents, Carol Cooper of Spartanburg, SC, Mattie Bailey, Alice Cunningham and Albert Williams all of Charlotte, NC; great-grandmother, Fannie White of Charlotte, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and associates. A celebration of Ashley's life will be held at Majority Baptist Church on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM. Ashley's family is requesting that friends and family wear vibrant colors such as orange, deep pink and yellow. Please wear as little black as possible. J. W. Woodward Funeral Home
