Antoinette-Mary Miller, born in 1919, spouse of Herbert-George Miller, daughter of Anna and Augustine, mother of Patricia, N. C and Raymond, died on May 2, 2010 at 91 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
Antoinette Mary Miller, 91 CAPE ELIZABETH -- Antoinette Mary Miller, 91, passed away in her sleep, with her family by her side on May 2, 2010, due to complications from Alzheimer's. She was the widow of Herbert George Miller. Most recently she was a resident of Brentwood Nursing Home, Yarmouth. Antoinette was born in Barnesboro, Pa., on Jan. 31, 1919, to Augustine and Anna Porto. The family moved to Bridgeport, Conn. during the Depression, where she grew up. She married Herbert G. Miller in 1938. Herbert and Ann raised two children, Raymond and Patricia, in Worcester, Mass. She became a very successful manager for Casual Corner, as well as a mentor for many high school and college girls. She was nominated Woman of the Year in Worcester for her business acumen. With a formal education that ended in the eighth grade, she was an inspiration to many with her 'can do' attitude and common sense ability to reduce any obstacle to easy steps to overcome. Her fondest memories were her time with family, but she always had room and time for extensions and strangers, who fast became new family. Her interest in gardening, cooking and housekeeping were just as strong as her people skills. Her energy to accomplish much with little and do it with pride was her hallmark. Ann was predeceased by four brothers, John, Angelo, Ernest and Frank, four sisters, Josephine, Helen, Catherine and Suzanne; grandchildren Jeffrey and Christopher Miller; and Ann's husband and love of her life, Herb, who passed away in January 1976. She moved to Cape Elizabeth after his death and resided with her daughter, Antoinette Mary Miller Patricia and family for 27 years on Hannaford Cove, Cape Elizabeth. She leaves her son, Raymond Miller and his wife Kim of Denver, N.C., daughter, Patricia Dawes and her husband David of Scarborough; grandchildren, Kim Frances Connell and her husband Mike; great-granddaughters Morgan and Taylor of Cape Elizabeth; grandson Richard David Dawes and wife Jamyn; great-granddaughter Maisyn of Cape Elizabeth; grandson John Dawes II and wife Kristy; great-grandchildren Lauren and Justin of Yarmouth; grandson Rick Miller and wife Beth of Charlotte, N.C., grandson Robb Miller of Denver, N.C.; sister Grace Kenney of Bridgeport, Conn.; numerous nieces, nephews; and extended family, all of whom were her legacy and treasure. The family wishes to express thanks and gratitude to all the 'Angels in Disguise' who were her caregivers over the last five years in her battle with Alzheimer's at Village Crossing in Cape Elizabeth, The Monarch Center in Saco and Brentwood Nursing Home in Yarmouth. Visiting hours will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, at The Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 7, at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Cape Elizabeth. Burial will be 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, at Worcester County Memorial in Paxton, Mass. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.hobbsfuneralhome.com.
