JENNINGS Anna Mae Kroll Jennings, 85 of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 7 at home surrounded by her loving family, after a brave battle with breast cancer. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. Born November 1, 1925 in Port Blanchard, Pa to Stanley and Agnes Haladina Kroll, she was one of 10 children. Anna married Sgt. Joseph Hizny at the age of 18. He died serving in World War II, leaving Anna a widow at the age of 19 with her daughter, Carol Ann, a few days old. A few years later, she met and eventually married Edward Jennings, a former Fairfield postal worker, and they had a joyful marriage filled with love and traveling. She is pre-deceased by both. Anna resided in Fairfield for over 55 years. Early on in life she worked at the J.B. Carr cookie factory in Penn., and held positions as an assembler at Westinghouse, McKesson & Robbins and Harvey Hubble factories in Conn. She was also a stay at home mom to her daughter. Anna was a cheerful, loving, beautiful and generous person. She loved gardening, baking, sewing and fixing things. She was an avid fan of UCONN woman's basketball and rooted for the Mets AND the Yankees. Most of all, her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. She was a strong, independent woman, who always took whatever life handed her with a positive and courageous attitude. Nana, as she was known to many, was full of life and wisdom. She touched many people's lives and will be missed. She is survived by her one daughter Carol Ann Hizny Papini of Fairfield and her husband Ronald; three grandchildren, Marc Papini of New York, Brian Papini and his wife Melissa of Fairfield, and Jessica Papini Lopez and her husband Richard of New York, one brother, Stanley Kroll of Penn., numerous nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church in Fairfield on Friday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. Anna was well taken care of and made many friends at The Whittingham Cancer Center.
