ALICE MAY TINKESS Mrs. Alice May Tinkess, 84, of Fort Frances passed away peacefully at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005. Alice was born May 27, 1921 in Rainy River, Ont. She was raised and lived in Fort Frances. Alice is survived by her husband, Roy, and children, Bob and wife, Jan, Nancy and husband, Bill Bone, Gail and husband, Russ Tonkin, and Stan and wife, Julie; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Mable and Norrie Godin. Alice was a wonderful mother who enjoyed being with her family. She also was a veteran who proudly served her country in World War Two. She met Roy while in the services and was married to him for 61 wonderful years. There were many memorable hours spent on Rainy Lake in the old days, riding up to the cabin in “Old Herby”—a wooden boat built by Norrie and Alice’s brother, Bob. In Alice and Roy’s retirement years, they enjoyed getting out of the cold and spending the winters in Arizona. Upon their return, Alice was always excited to get the water turned on and move up to their summer home on Kakagi (Crow) Lake, north of Nestor Falls, Ont. Alice had many wonderful friends whom she loved dearly. Nobody she knew would get away without a hug. We all love and miss you dearly, Mom. A come-and-go tea will be held in Alice’s memory on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at 374 Hill Rd. in Crozier.
