Alice Marie (Tharpe) Burke, 71, of Vernon died Dec. 2, at Bonifay Nursing and Rehab Center in Bonifay. She was the daughter of the late Hodges Tharpe and the late Cora (Miller) Tharpe. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, the Rev. Lavon Burke, of Vernon; two daughters, Sharon (Sheri) Hawley and husband the Rev. Frank, of Winter Haven, and Lavonda (Vonnie) Auld and husband the Rev. Chris, of Mooresville, N.C.; one son, Alton (Buddy) Burke and wife Pam, of Derry, N.H. and nine grandchildren Funeral service was at Carmel Assembly of God Dec. 5, with the Revs. Bobby Thompson, Frank Hawley, Chris Auld and Tommy Moore officiating. Interment followed in the Burke Cemetery in Vernon with Sims Funeral Home of Bonifay directing.
