BAR HARBOR, MONSON and DOVER-FOXCROFT - Alice L. Casey, 89, died Jan. 22, 2009, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Connecticut, the daughter of Edward H. and Anna (Tenhagen) Leach. Alice went to business school in New York City and worked for United Artist in the Empire State Building, where she met her husband. She lived in the Dover-Foxcroft/Monson area for more than 30 years, and she owned and operated Wildwood Campground, Monson. She worked part time for the U.S. Postal Service, here in Maine and in California. Family was the most important part of her life. She loved playing cards, enjoyed gardening, and loved cooking, camping and sitting outside in the summer with her dog. Alice was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft, where she was very active, and on Mount Desert Island, she belonged to St. Peter's Catholic Church, Manset. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Casey of Town Hill and William Casey of Ocean Shores, Wash.; two daughters, Alice Denise Rocca and her husband, Michael, of Pittsfield, Mass., and Patricia Deno and her husband, Lewis, of Stephentown, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Kylie Cole Carpenter and Marie Casey; and two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Kira Carpenter. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Dennis E. Casey in 1986; and by a daughter, Terri Higdon in 2005. A private celebration of Alice's life will be held in the spring and celebrated every day in the minds of her family.
