Yvonne Ste Marie, of St. Augustine, Fla., a long time resident of Newport, Vt., died at home on Saturday morning August 10, 2002.Mrs. Ste Marie was born in Brompton, Quebec on August 28, 1913, the daughter of Francois and Anna Blais, She was one of 16 children; She nearly outlived all her brothers and sister with one exception, Antonia St. Pierre of Sherbrooke.As a young lady she was employed as a governess by the Nicole Family in Sherbrooke, Quebec, an experience that served her well in life. She worked many years as sales clerk in Newport. She began working with her sister Jeannette Goyette at The Bell Shop, and subsequently worked many years with Ed and Martha, Marvin, Carol Needleman, her second home as she would often describe it. She made many friends at Needleman's. Yvonne was a very active and engaging lady, she loved helping others and took an interest in people, and she always had a positive attitude and a good outlook on life. She loved to play games with children. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of St. Mary's Parish in Newport.In 1943 Yvonne married Lionel St. Marie, of Troy, who survives her. They shared nearly 59 years together.She is survived by her son Michael and spouse Nancy of St. Augustine, Fla., and grandchildren Michelle of St. Augustine, John Belding and his spouse, Amy, of Old Town, Maine, Jason Belding of Willington, Del., and Ben Belding of Bolsters Mill, Maine; her sister, Antonia of Sherbrooke, and sisters-in-law Jeannette Ducharme of Granby, Quebec, Adrienne Charbonneu of Satellite Beach, Fla., and her brother-in-law Armand Routhier and his spouse Georgette of Newport as well as many nieces and nephews that knew and loved her.Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 19, at St. Mary's Star of Sea Church at 10 a.m. in Newport. Her nephew Rev.
