NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Willie Stewart, 67, of 2110 Country Club Hill, entered into rest August 15, 2009. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Old Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Limuer Myers officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Stewart was a member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He also served as Sunday School Superintendent and director of the Boys Club. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #232 of North Augusta, North Augusta Optimist Club, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He also served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Stewart retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections Education Department. He was a 1961 Jefferson High School graduate. He received his B.S. degree in Math from Clafin College and was a member of Clafin Alumni Association. Survivors include his wife, Delores Stewart; a daughter, Michele (Eric) Ammonds; a son, Matthew (Paula) Bridgers; his mother, Christine Stewart; a sister, Mozell Stewart; three brothers, James (Philippa) Stewart, Arthur (Jean) Stewart, and Dozell (Joann) Stewart; one grandson, Evan Ammonds; a host of other relatives and friends.
