Haney, William EAST GREENBUSH William W. (Bill) Haney, 66, a resident of East Greenbush and Clermont, Fla., passed away on September 18, 2008 at the Mayo Clinic in Jackson-ville, Fla. from complications following a lung transplant in May of this year. Mr. Haney was born on December 26, 1941 in Amsterdam, N.Y., the son of the late Cecil E. and Alma Moore Haney. He grew up in St. Johnsville, N.Y. and was graduated from St. Johnsville High School in 1959. Mr. Haney attended SUNY at Cortland and was graduated from the Russell Sage College with a B.S. in business administration degree in 1969. He married Jane Luther on July 8, 1966 who survives him. Bill was briefly employed at Niagara Mohawk Power & Light Corporation; he was comptroller and national sales manager for an up and coming recreation vehicle company called Air Cusion Vehicles, Inc. in Troy, N.Y. in the early 1970s. He was director of marketing at CHART, Inc. and owner and president of Sonitrol and Pro Com Security Systems in the Albany, Troy and Schenectady area. In 1995, he sold the company, but continued to serve as a consultant in the commercial and residential securities business. He was director of Capital Mutual Insurance Company and Financial Planner for Mass Mutual Insurance Co. For 30 years, he also was a member and chairman of the East Greenbush Planning Board and Zoning Board of the town. Bill was an Eagle Scout, a Mason and served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1959 until discharged in 1966. He attended the East Greenbush Reformed Church, and was a past president of the board at The Quarters of Lake George. He was member of Sales & Marketing Executive of N.Y.; founder of Hudson Mohawk Alarm Association; Albany, Rensselaer and Schenectady Chamber of Commence; Eastern Contractors; Police Athletic League; Steuben Athletic Club and The Fort Orange Club. Bill enjoyed playing golf and was an avid New York Giants fan with season tickets to all home games. He was a member of Cordial Greens County Club, East Greenbush, N.Y., Normanside Country Club of Delmar, N.Y. and Kings Ridge Country Club of Clermont, Fla., where he enjoyed playing in club tournaments. Mr. Haney is survived by his wife Jane of 42 years; a son, William M. of East Greenbush; a brother, George of Derwood, Md.; a sister, Ellen Whitehead of Acworth, Ga.; four nieces, two nephew and several grandnieces and grandnephews. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, N.Y. A memorial service, celebrating Bill's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., September 27, 2008 at the East Greenbush Reformed Church, Columbia Tpk., East Greenbush. The Rev. John Magee will officiate. At a later date, there will be a memorial service held in Clermont. Interment will be private and take place at the convenience of the family.
