LEE, William Niver Age 78, died at The Village by the Station Care Facility on May 12, 2006, following a courageous battle with Lewy Body disease. Bill was the youngest of three, born April 5, 1928, in Tofield, Alberta to the late John and Ethel Lee. Bill grew up on the farm, moved to Edmonton in his adolescence and met Betty, his wife of 56 years, at the Roller Rink. They raised four children, were actively involved in church and community where Bill was an Elder in Wesley United Church, president of the Oliver Community League and a much loved and respected hockey and baseball coach. He was a family man who unselfishly gave of his time, love and energy. Bill was always his own boss and ran successful upholstery businesses in North Surrey, Edmonton and Penticton. His love for travel and road trips led to many wonderful adventures with family and friends. Over his life, Bill enjoyed various hobbies including oil painting, gold panning, golfing, ballroom and square dancing. Bill is survived by his wife, Betty, his sons Ric and Gary (Debbie), his daughters Bonnie and Marcy (Gord), grandchildren Jess, Tera, Scott, Jack, and Rachel; one great-grandchild Braeden; one sister Betty (Lorne) Anderson of Crestline, California and son-in-law Roger. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other realtives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Conrad who died in the second world war and one grandchild Denny who died at age 16 from complications of diabetes. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, at the Village by the Station, 270 Hastings Avenue, Penticton. Chaplain Pam Jackson will officiate. Bill's wishes for a cremation will be honoured. Arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services 250-493-4112.
