William L. "Bill" Stapleton, 83, a longtime and well-known resident of Southborough, died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Marianne S. (Barth) Stapleton for 59 years. In his youth, Bill raced flat head Fords and flat track motorcycles on the Eastern Circuit. He was the owner and operator of the former Bill & Larrys Texaco Inc. in Nobscot (then dba Southboro Mobil in Southborough), where he spent many hours running a successful full automotive repair facility. Bill was dedicated to his family and will be remembered by many as a terrific teacher, wonderful father and a great friend. He was always ready with a quip and a smile that set the world right. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, William L. Stapleton Jr. and his wife, Kristin, of Southborough, Laura McPherson and her husband, Kirk, of Old Lyme, Conn., Linda Derosier and her husband, Jay, of Shrewsbury, Leslie Tasse and her husband, John, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., Lisa Stapleton of Boxford, Lorraine Charman and her husband, John, of Atlanta, Ga, and Will Colon of Worcester; and 12 grandchildren. Visiting hours are Monday, July 9, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough. Burial and funeral will be private.
