-> Darien - William Joseph "Billy" Pitts, 39 of Darien, died July 5, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Pitts was a native of Glynn county and a life long resident of Darien. He graduated from high school at Oglethorpe Christian Academy, was a former Boy Scout and a member of the National Head Injury Foundation. Mr. Pitts was a frequent volunteer at Ft. King George and was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. He was an avid gardener and lanscaper. He never met a stranger and lived his life to the fullest "One day at a time". His gift was to leave people with a smile on their face. Surviving is his mother, Patricia Evans Pitts, Darien; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Lou Pitts, Brunswick; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Marijo Pitts-Sheffield and Chuck Sheffield, Pine Harbor; Tricia Pitts Deal, Darien and Nancy Jane Pitts Mikowski, Tampa; four nieces, Lauren Pitts, Athens, Annsley Pit ts, Brunswick, Megan and Elizabeth Deal, Darien; a nephew, Christopher Mikowski, Tampa; four aunts, Annette Evans, Brunswick, Bert Bluestein, Darien, Suge Cannon, Darien and Beuna Pitts, Darien. Visitation was held Thursday beginning with a rosary at the funeral home. Funeral service was held Friday at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in Darien with Father Cletus Pifher officiating.
