Obituary of William Jordan


June 9, 2008 William "Bill" Jordan, 88, of Howlett Hill, died Monday at Loretto. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy. He was a Navy veteran of WW II. Bill was a fireman for 25 years with the Syracuse City Fire Department. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Bill enjoyed golfing, reading and was an avid woodworker. A loving father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Bill's wife, the former Anna "Lois" Warner, died in 2007. Surviving are his sons, Thomas (Janet) of Freeville and William (Valerie) of Liverpool; daughters, Barbara (Saj) Gilani of Lancaster, Maureen Warn of Mendon and Christine (Peter) Miller of Phoenix; sister, Agnes Neagle of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus, and 1 p.m. in Holy Family Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 16, in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attn: Memorial/Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
