William Ashley Jordan, 82, of 209 Sandpiper Way, husband of Hester Smith Jordan, died Saturday May 20, 2006.Born in Simpsonville, he was the son of the late Lula Mae Harbart and Furman Augustus Jordan.He was the co-owner of Bill's True Value Hardware on Pendleton Street until his retirement. He was an active member of Augusta Road Baptist Church for more than fifty years, where he had served as a Deacon, a volunteer on several mission trips, and was a volunteer with Habitat For Humanity.He was also a member of the Parker Rotary Club and the West Greenville Business Association.Mr. Jordan was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Navy in Guam. He received a citation for heroism against Japanese Forces.Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Jack Michaux of Stone Mountain, Ga., a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mel Crask of Winder, Ga., a daughter, Lucia Jordan Johnson of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Judy Jordan of Greenville; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 22, 2006, at The Mackey Mortuary at 11:30 a.m. by Rev. Chris Cadenhead and Dr. Marion Hare.
