He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Joe Ramsey and Evie McGowen Montgomery. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jo Dean Hunter Montgomery; sister, Mai Murphy; brothers, Joe and Raymond Montgomery.Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Steve Perigo will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason Smith, Jared Smith, Jamie Hobdy, Cory Jenssen, Wesley Montgomery and Grant Simmons. Honorary Pallbearer will be Devin Hobdy.He is survived by his son, Kenneth Montgomery of Beech Grove; daughter and devoted son-in-law, Judy and John Ellis of Lavergne; brothers, Howard (Frances) Montgomery of Smyrna and Thurman Montgomery of Lavergne; sister, Eva (Benny) Sumrall of Smyrna; grandchildren, Vicki Simmons, Bryan Montgomery, Christy (Jason) Smith, Amy (Jamie) Hobdy and Wesley (Dawn) Montgomery; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson.Mr. Montgomery was a member of Miracle Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from AVCO as an inspector.Visitation will be today from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, 615-459-3254www.woodfinchapel.com
