-><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Towner, William J. "The Duck" Fishers: Passed away peacefully at Strong Memorial Hospital on August 30, 2014, at age 92. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Elizabeth. He leaves his two daughters, Susan Checcino and Martha Towner; five grandchildren, Christopher, Scott, Daniel, Kara, and Michael; great granddaughter, Sabrina; nephews, William and Lawerence Towner.He was born on July 16, 1922 in Rochester, NY. He was a graduate of Webster High School and served briefly in the US Army. He worked alongside his brother, Larry selling bikes, boats, canoes and other sporting goods at Towner Bros Inc. in Rochester. He enjoyed spending his free time as an avid Duck hunter, fisherman, sailor and puttering along in his yard. He was best known as a decoy collector and carver, a staunch supporter of Ducks Unlimited in the 60's and 70's era. He was instrumental in the Finger Lakes Retriever Club. He was a past member of Vanderbilt and Clinton Erie hunting clubs. He along with Lizzie supported the Nature's Conservatory, RPO, Museum, Art Gallery and many other fine arts. At Bill's request there will be no calling hours. On Saturday, September 13th at 10am, friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held at the Pittsford Christ Episcopal Church, 33 South Main Street, Pittsford and then he will be laid to rest next to his bride at Boughton Hill Cemetery in Victor.
