William-J. Todd, spouse of Min Todd, father of William and Lark, died on June 9, 2008. Please consult the obituary here:
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. William J. 'Bill' Todd, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, entered into Glory on Monday, June 9, 2008, at University Hospital. A service of worship and praise will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Augusta, on Friday, June 13, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Dr. George Robertson and Reverend Peter Letchford officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place at Arlington National Cemetery. Mr. Todd grew up near Myrtle Beach, S.C., attended college, entered the United States Air Force, and later earned a Masters Degree in Business. As a young man, Mr. Todd received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and that relationship directed the course of his life. His greatest joy was his family, especially his wife, Min, of whom he said after their first meeting, "I have met the girl I'm going to marry!" Mr. Todd served his country with distinction through the Korean and Viet Nam wars. One of his final assignments was to manage the entire communications systems for the United States Armed Services in Southeast Asia. Following his military service, Mr. Todd taught business classes at a local college near Kingstree, S.C. He also had the privilege of serving on the Williamsburg County School Board for over eight years. He and his wife were among the founding members of the Kingstree Presbyterian Church, PCA, where Mr. Todd also served as a Deacon, Elder, Treasurer and Administrator. In 2002, Mr. Todd and his wife moved to Augusta to be near their daughter, Lark Sessions, her husband, John, and their son, William. They joined First Presbyterian Church, PCA, and became members of the Trinity Sunday School class where their most cherished friendships developed. Members of the Trinity class became Mr. and Mrs. Todd's extended family and the joy of Christian fellowship was never greater than with these dear saints of the Lord. One of Mr. Todd's highest privileges and greatest joys was to serve the members of First Presbyterian Church as an Elder and Parish Leader. Outside of his church and family, Mr. Todd's love was golf. He especially enjoyed the fellowship of the Forest Hills Seniors Golf Association and the special friends he made there. Always active, Mr. Todd suffered a severe stroke in March 2007 that limited his mobility. The Lord granted him a clear mind, however, and he persevered through much pain and suffering to regain his strength. Although the family grieves for their loss, they do so with the certain expectation of a future reunion in heaven. So the family joins with the saints of all ages in proclaiming with Job, "I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see Him with my own eyes-I, and not another." Mr. Todd's other survivors include a brother, B.H. Todd; and sisters, Ella Pearl Willard, Mary Nell Thompson, and Margie Holt. In lieu of flowers, friends may send memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 642 Telfair Street, Augusta.
