HAMPTON - William J. Lyons, 82, of Hampton, formerly of Stoneham, Mass. died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Lifecare Center in Stoneham.Born in Wakefield, Mass. May 11, 1929 he was the son of the late William and Bridgette (Fitzgerald) Lyons.William was a graduate of Wakefield High School. He had served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars. He had worked as an Underwriter for Arkwright Insurance before his retirement. William had been a Stoneham resident since the 1950s and was a member of St. Patrick Church in Stoneham. William was the husband of Shirley (Blout) Lyons. He was the father of Kevin Lyons and his wife Cindy, and Patty Breault all of Wakefield, Mass., and Janet Lyons of Northwood. He was the brother of Marie Opland of Stoneham, Mass. and the late Theresa Lyons. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Stephen, Kasey, Daniel, and David. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass Friday, March 9, at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, Mass. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.
