William J. Lyons, 66, Palmetto, died April 28, 2003. He was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Erling, Iowa, and came to Manatee County 12 years ago from Jacksonville. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 2117 and American Legion North Manatee Post No. 309, both in Palmetto. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Gloria; daughters Sheri Jabs of Palmetto, Joanna Hall of Jacksonville and Brenda Hirz of Sarasota; a son, William J. Jr. of Palmetto; a brother, Chuck of Harlem, Iowa; and eight grandchildren. No visitation is scheduled. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 26th Street Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Moose Lodge No. 2117, 203 Ninth St. Drive W., Palmetto, FL 34221.
