Obituary of William-H. Lee


LEE Lt. William H. Lee, age 76, beloved husband of Shirley Potter Lee of Milford, formerly of Fairfield, died on Friday, June 27, 2003, in Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport on September 8, 1926, son of the late Martin and Edith Lee, he resided in Fairfield most of his life, moving to Milford three years ago. Bill was a retired Fairfield firefighter and insurance agent for J.C. Bradley Insurance, Fairfield, and was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the International Association of Firefighters Local L1426, Railroad Circus Model Builders Association, North American N Scale Railroaders, Fidelity St. John’s Lodge #3 AF & AM, Fairfield, the Scottish Rite Valley of Bridgeport and the Pyramid Shrine, Milford. While living in Fairfield, he was a charter member and on the building committee of Fairfield Grace Methodist Church, board member of the Babe Ruth League of Connecticut and was treasurer and board member of POP Warner Football and a volunteer for the Junior Basketball League, a 25-year member and past president of the Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department, and past board member and treasurer of the Fairfield Credit Union. In addition to Shirley, he is survived by a son, Brian W. Lee and his wife, Susan, and their children, Andrew and Samantha Lee, all of Saucon Valley, Pa.; a daughter, Betsy L. Koetsch and her husband, Bernie, of Stratford; one nephew, Martin Bradley Lee, three nieces, Sandy Pepin, Susan Fitzpatrick and Lynn Rawlings; three grandnieces; two grandnephews; and two step great-grandsons, Joseph and Nicholas Taylor. He was predeceased by his brother, Martin Lee and his wife, Janice. Friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday, July 7, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Mary Taylor United Methodist Church, on the Green, Milford. Interment, with military honors in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call TODAY, July 6, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, Conn. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Pop Warner Football, Fairfield, or Babe Ruth Baseball, Fairfield. Fidelity-St. John’s Lodge AF & AM will exemplify a funeral rite TODAY at 6:30 p.m.
