WILLIAM H. HORTON "BILL" HIGHLAND, IN William H. Horton, age 87, of Highland, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Norma; children: Brenda (Gary) Whiteside of Hanover, IN, Dr. Will D. (Christina) Horton of Venice, FL; stepson, Paul D. Sims of Hammond; grandchildren: Erika (Jeff) Lambdin, Renee (Steve) McDowell, Shawn (Myndi) Whiteside, Anthony (fiancee Amanda) Whiteside, and Brandon (Heather) Whiteside; five great grandchildren; brothers: AJ Horton and Thomas (Faye) Horton; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Wesley and Ella Horton; first wife, Eula Tosh; and sisters: Glen, Ether, and Evie. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Glory to God Lutheran Church (Gloria Dei), located at 3711 Ridge Road, Highland with Pastor David Trexler officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the Glory to God Lutheran Church. Bill was retired from Republic Steel. He was a member of Glory to God Lutheran Church. Bill was a WWII Navy veteran and member of the American Legion Post 126 (Vice Commander) and the VFW Post 7881 (Officer of the Day).
