Obituary of William D. Todd


William D. Todd 1931 - 2011 SOUTH HADLEY - William D. Todd, 80, died peacefully Saturday, June 18 in the Soldier's Home of Holyoke. Born in Boston, May 19,1931, he lived in Chicopee for many years and has lived in S. Hadley since 2010. In his retirement, he lived in Stuart, FL for many years. A proud veteran, he served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Juneau and was proud of its many service awards, including the Navy Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal - Five Battle Stars, and the China Service Medal, the Korean Presidetial Unit citation badge and the United Nations Service Medal - Korea. He later joined the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. His working career was spent at James River Graphics prior to his retirement. In his leisure, he was skilled at playing the bag pipes, and played with the Holyoke Caledonian Pipe Band, but, most importantly, he devoted his time and love to his wife, children and grandchildren. He was also a Life Member of the VFW. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Barbara A. (Lecour), along with his 3 daughters, Kathleen Thibault and her husband Robert of S. Hadley, Dorothy Gronostalski and her husband Ted of Longmeadow, Cynthia Todd and Armand Rozenberg of Norwood, and his daughter in law Rebecca Todd of Suffield, CT. He also leaves his 10 precious grandchildren, William, Daniel and Joseph Todd, Kristy and Tony Kirkpatrick, Lorraine, Alison and Teddy Gronostalski, Matthew and Angela Thibault along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, a son, Tech Sgt. William L. Todd preceded him in death in 1999, along with siblings John, Robert and Anne. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 22 at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home from 4:00 - 7:00 p. m. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10:00 a. m. at St. Patrick's Church in South Hadley.
