Reverend William "Bill" Boroughs Bolt, 87, husband of Doris McKee Bolt for 62 years, died Wednesday, January 9, 2008. Born in Simpsonville, he was the son of the late Reverend William J. and Harriet Boroughs Bolt. Rev. Bolt was a Baptist pastor and was a member of Overbrook Baptist Church. He was president of his class at Furman University and graduated from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He was ordained in 1943 in Harlan, Ky. by his father and was the moderator of the North Spartanburg Baptist Association and the North Greenville Baptist Association. Rev. Bolt pastored many Baptist churches including a field of churches (Gray Court, Friendship, Warrior Creek, New Prospect, and Highland Home), all in Gray Court; Welcome in Greenville, Fairforest in Spartanburg, and Mountain Creek in Greenville. He was very active as an interim pastor and served at Calvary, Bethany, and Northview in Spartanburg, and Gap Creek in Greenville. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Christine Busse and husband, Craig, of Vienna, Ga., Anne Bolt Edge of Taylors, and Harriet Lappin and husband, David, of Easley; a son, William M. Bolt and wife, Karen, of Cumming, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Casey and Cory Edge, Vince Mathis, Lorianne Hinsey, Will and Daniel Bolt, and Chelsea and Zach Lappin; two great-grandchildren, Loren Storm Hinsey and Parker Mathis; and a sister, Louise Alverson of Paris, Ky. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Bolt Edge. Memorials may be made to Overbrook Baptist Church, 1705 E. North St., Greenville, SC 29607. Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held at Overbrook Baptist Church on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery in Spartanburg.
