ANDERSON, Wayne C. A much loved, kind, family man left us May 10, 2013. Wayne, son of Sid and Lottie Anderson was born March 10, 1931 in Regina. The family moved to Vancouver, Toronto and Winnipeg. While in Winnipeg, Wayne attended Daniel McIntyre School where he won many trophies for lacrosse and track. Dad's family then moved to Saskatoon where he attended City Park Collegiate High, where he excelled in basketball, track and football. He won several provincial awards with the Saskatoon Hilltops, then went on to play with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. To quote a sports page article ­ "It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Anderson!" Wayne then moved to Edmonton and married Joan (nee Holland) in 1953. Wayne and Joan started their family shortly thereafter and resided in Edmonton for 18 years. Wayne was employed with C.I.L., then moved the family to Victoria in 1971 and continued working at James Island C.I.L. until its closure. He loved family vacations, his home (especially the pool), his pets and warm weather trips. Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Joan; daughter, Nancy Meadows, Cathy Smith (Keith); grandchildren, Mike, Iain and Laura; sister-in-law, Mabelanne; nephews, Rick, Dave, Mike and niece, Cheryl. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Sid and Lottie; in-laws, Art and Violet; brother, Paul; sister, Orchid and son-in-law, Jim. Our heartfelt thank you to all the caring staff of the Waterview Unit at the Gorge Road Hospital. You were wonderful to him and the family. In lieu of flowers, a donation, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimers Society of B.C. Our husband, Dad and Papa will be sadly missed, but we know he has gone to a better place and has found the peace he so much deserved. We love you and wish you happiness on your next journey.
