BEDFORD, N.H. - Warren C. Parker, 92, of Bedford, N.H., and formerly of Rutland, VT, died Wednesday morning, December 19, 2012, at the Ridgewood Center, Genesis Healthcare in Bedford, N.H. He was born in Rutland, VT, August 3, 1920, the son of Leon and Edna (Lyman) Parker. He was married to Shirley (Elkey) Parker, with whom he shared 73 happy years of marriage. Mr. Parker served the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific as a radar operator aboard the U.S.S. LSM 372. After returning from the war he worked as an accountant. He was a part-time representative for Nationwide Insurance, as well as a real estate agent with his wife. He retired at the age of 57 as Financial Controller of Carris Reels in West Rutland. Warren enjoyed being active - whether it was fishing, golfing, tending to his garden or the woods behind his house. He was always on the go with Shirley by his side. After retiring they became snowbirds, spending as much as six months a year in Largo, Florida. In 2003, the Parkers relocated from Vermont to New Hampshire to live closer to their family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Parker of Bedford, N.H.; his daughter Carol Small and husband Les of Bedford, N.H.; his granddaughter, Stephanie Dowling of Merrimack, N.H.; grandson, Brian Small and wife Elizabeth of Apex, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Victoria Small, Cameron Small, John Small, Patrick Dowling, Alayna Dowling; as well as his sister Florence Beebe of Rutland, VT, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers: Leonard Parker, Rollin Parker, Benjamin Parker, Leon Parker and Charles Parker as well as five sisters: Mary Parker, Gladys Lewis, Lois Archer, Alice Dennis and Shirley Parker. There are no visiting hours. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at Bethany Covenant Church, Bedford, N.H. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Rutland, VT, at a future date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lambert Funeral Home, Manchester, N.H.
