Obituary of Wanetta-Mae Johnson

Obituary"Jesus is the only true peace"; these are the words written across the front of my Grandma's tattered bible... On Monday, June 24, 2002, Jesus called Wanetta Mae Johnson home to paradise. Wanetta was born in Richmond, Indiana on June 29, 1926, and she had been a resident of Fort Myers, Florida since 1969. Her life was dedicated to making others happy. She surrounded herself by loving family, friends, and neighbors. After surviving two major heart attacks and a stroke, Wanetta was vibrant and full of life. She volunteered at Sonshine Worship Center where she had been a faithful member for almost thirty years. Those who love her describe her as a wonderful, caring, fearless, energetic, and giving woman. Wanetta treasured the simple things in life, and this made her so easy to love. Wanetta Mae Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Briar Johnson, and her sister, Pat Stewart. Wanetta has longed for the day Jesus would take her home to be with them. Wanetta is survived by her brother, Paul Carpenter, and her four children and their spouses: Arthur and Peggy Johnson, Jerry and Connie Johnson, Billy and Debbie Johnson, and Dena Johnson. She is also survived by her granddaughters and their spouses: Angie Johnson, DeeAnn Johnson, Kimmi Johnson, Marsha and Jay Sharp, Christina Ibrahim, Paula and Mark McCullough, Amie Fort, Amber Johnson, and Tabatha Williams. Wanetta was proud of her 15 beautiful great grandchildren: Korey, Brittney, Kena, Kara, Susie, Caitlyn, Emilee, Sarah, Bradley, Brian, Kayla, Brett, Brooke, Bobby and Mark. The family will be receiving guests at Anderson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27th, from 6 - 8 p.m. The funeral services will be held at Sonshine Worship Center on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Grandma...the most precious gift you ever gave us was your time. Until we meet again in heaven, your memory will always be cherished...Your loving family and friends.
