Walter Kingsley Bell died Wednesday, March 27 2013, at 7:45 p.m. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his wife Betty, sons James (Barbara), Walter (Annie) and Bert (Judy), grandchildren Walker, Colin and Arron, great grandchildren Areil and Lilli, his sister Dorothy.Walter was born on Erwin St. Nanaimo BC on February 7, 1920, at 7am. As a young man he attended St. Andrews in Nanaimo where he loved to sing in the choir. He also loved to play soccer, ride his bike, read anything he could get his hands on and started his gardening passion at the young age of 3. He the went off to fight in the second World War, was stationed in England and France. Upon his return, Walter lived in Vancouver and took up his love for gardening as a florist. Which after meeting the love of his life, Betty, he would give her a corsage every Saturday night before they would go dancing. In 1947 Walter & Betty moved to Nanaimo where Walter worked in the mine and then the pulp mill. Walter and Betty's life grew together here with the birth of their 3 sons and many wonderful friendships. His love of soccer continued to grow through his time spent coaching and reffing. His two favourite things he liked to do was watch soccer and gardening, his favourite food - Ice cream, favourite way to make people laugh - tell a joke, he read from the Readers Digest, for the last 17 years. Walter was an active member of St. Phillips Anglican Church and when he was unable to attend he would read his favourite book - the Bible. Walter will be truly missed by many as he was a gentle, good nature, kind hearted human being that always would take time out to listen, laugh and love. There will be no service by request.
