HAND, Willie Dee, age 91, a resident of Wetumpka, AL, died on Friday, June 8, 2001 at his home. A native of Elmore County. He was the son of the late John Zera Hand and Katie Lee Williams Hand. He was married 57 years to Sallie Fannie Thrower Hand. A retired farmer, Elmore County employee, and Alabama Power Company employee. Mr. Hand is survived by his four daughters, LaVern Luster, Elsie Lee Bass of Wetumpka, AL, Ann Rowe of Eclectic, AL and Millie Merritt of Goldsboro, NC; four sisters, Viola Weldon of Eclectic, AL, Vesta Luster of Elmore, Inella Bowden and Ethel Lee of Montgomery, AL; six grandchildren, Wayne Luster, Dale Luster, Ginger Goolsby, Sarah Ann Paris, Ty Rowe and Kim Blume; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four step-children and five great-great-step-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. A very special friend, Mr. Red Simmons of Santuck, AL. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Michael Rowe, two brothers, Woodrow Hand and John Hann, two sisters, Lillie Bee Weldon and Daisy Lee Hand. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Gassett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home at other times. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2001 at 4:00 p.m. from Gassett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Morgan Bailey and Rev. Mike Beck officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 11, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. from Shephard Cemetery with Gassett Funeral Home of Wetumpka directing.
