Vivian Veturia Broussard, 88, of Deweyville, died Thursday, September 8, 2005, at a private care facility in Orange. Vivian was affectionately known in Deweyville to those over 35 as "Aunt Vivian" and to those under 35 as "Aunt Bean Bean". Born to Leon and Mary Ionia (McClain) Davis in Nogalus Prairie, Trinity County, Texas. Vivian was considered by most the matriarch of Deweyville and the First United Methodist Church of Deweyville, of which she was a very active and devoted member. In 1932, Vivian achieved the highest score on the entrance exam of Sam Houston State College, when she was only 16, and graduated with a degree in education. Vivian owned and operated the first beauty shop in Deweyville, and then became a clerk in the Deweyville Post Office, from which she retired after 31 years of service. She was offered the Post Mistress position, but declined. Her memberships included the United Methodist Women, Women's League of Deweyville and V.F.W. Post #2775, Auxiliary. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home, with Reverend David N. Morgret, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Deweyville, officiating. Interment will follow in King Cemetery, Hartburg. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Vivian's parents, two brothers and husband, Jerome A. Broussard preceded her in death. Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Gerald Max and Gloria Davis of Mobile, Alabama; nephews and wives, Hager Max and Linda Davis, Dick and Carolyn Davis, Joe Bob and Carolyn Davis and Carlos and Jane Davis. Nieces and husbands, Margaret and Curtis Legget, Dorothy Warms and Karinn Martin. She is also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews, her fellow church members and the people of Deweyville. Memorial are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or the Deweyville Public Library, Deweyville, TX 77614.
