WING _ Virginia Alma (Hess). It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Virginia Wing announces her passing at the Sherbrooke Community Center on Monday March 8, 2004 at the age of 87. Virginia is survived by her loving family; her beloved husband of 53 years, Albert; daughter, Shirley Ann; sons, Ken (Charlene), Ron (Shelley); grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Lucier, Lindsay, Brandy, Sam, Brett and one great grandchild, Carson; sister, Mary Myers. Virginia was predeceased by her son, Douglas and her brother, Kenneth Hess. Virginia was born on December 6, 1916 in Hughton, SK. She attended public school in Hughton and later attended the University of Saskatchewan graduating with a degree in Household Science. After graduation, she was employed at the Western Hospital in Toronto as a dietician. From there, Virginia joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served as a lieutenant. Upon discharge she was employed at Kingston General Hospital as head dietician. In 1951, Virginia married Albert Wing in Saskatoon where they started their family. Along with raising their four children, Virginia kept very active in the community. She served on the Board of Directors for Cosmopolitan Industries, John Dolan School and the Association for the Mentally Handicapped. She was a life member of the Council of Women and served on the University of Saskatchewan Senate. Virginia was also a long-standing member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her other interests included gardening, traveling and spending time with friends and family. Virginia was a very kind, loving and generous person whose beautiful smile warmed the hearts of all who knew her. The family would like to thank Virginia's caregivers and the staff at Sherbrooke Community Center where she received excellent and loving care. A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at the Saskatoon Funeral Home (338-4th Avenue North) on Friday, March 12, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. If friends so wish, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the The Shriners Hospital for Children Montreal (C/O Saskatoon Shrine Club, Box 1644, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 3R8). Arrangements have been entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home.
