Virginia TaylorJohnson, 72, died on December 4, 2009, in Vero Beach, Florida. Virginia was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. Vinson. Her parents were teachers and administrators in the Duval County public school system. Mr. Vinson founded the Duval County Teacher's Credit Union. Virginia graduated from Landon High School in 1954 and Duke University in 1958 with a degree in elementary education. Virginia then taught school in Richmond, Virginia. In 1963, she and her husband, Dr. J. Atwood Taylor, Jr., relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida. She became a resident of Vero Beach in 2007. Virginia is survived by her three children, J. Atwood Taylor, III, Vero Beach, Raymond V. Taylor, Orlando, Kathleen Vanskike, Honolulu, Hawaii; and by eight grandchildren, Paige, Hillary, Robyn, Lindsey, and Michael Taylor, Joshua, Abigail and Samuel Vanskike. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Southside United Methodist Church, 3120 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, Florida. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made in Virginia's honor to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society in care of J. Atwood Taylor, III, 5070 North Hwy. A1A, Suite 200, Vero Beach, FL 32963. OAKLAWN CEMETERY & FUNERAL HOME, 4801 San Jose Blvd. is serving the family.
