Obituary of Virginia-T. Mitchell


TUSCALOOSA Virginia "Ginny" T. Mitchell, age 71, of Tuscaloosa, died Jan. 21, 2008, at Northport Medical Center-DCH. Services will be 10 a.m. today at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Jerry Deasy officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.Her parents, Warren and Kathryn Tucker, and her son, Jeff Mitchell, preceded her in death.Survivors include her husband, Dr. John Mitchell; four sons, Mike Mitchell (Cindy), Steve Mitchell (Dana), Phillip Mitchell (Kathy), and Mark Mitchell; sister, Jackie Schimmel (Chris); grandchildren, Peter Mitchell (Amy), Karla Mitchell, Amy Mitchell, Jessica Mitchell, Anna Mitchell, Samantha Mitchell, Justin Mitchell, and Evan Mitchell; step grandchildren, James Skelton, Robert Skelton, Desiree Skelton, and Amanda Skelton; and one step great grandchild, Jason Champion.Ginny was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, caring for animals and playing bridge with her friends. She always looked forward to going to Supperclub. Ginny was a long-time member of Saint Ann's Guild. She was loved and will be deeply missed.Pallbearers will be Peter Mitchell, Justin Mitchell, Evan Mitchell, Boone Cummings, Chris Cummings, Lee Mitchell, Victor Mitchell, Dr. Chad Hamner, Eric Hamner, Chuck Schimmel, and Conrad Schimmel.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church Building Fund, 711 37th St. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
