<!-- FH = Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home -->Virginia Ruth (Ginny) WoodVirginia Ruth (Ginny) Wood passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab, Hollister. She was born on March 10, 1925 in Brownbranch, Mo. She was the second daughter of Ralph and Mabel McPherson. After graduating from Forsyth High School in 1943, she attended Drury College. In 1948, she and Joe Royce Alexander were married. Virginia worked for several years as the Executive Secretary for the Branson Chamber of Commerce, where she welcomed many early tourists to Branson with her cheery smile and caring manner. She later married Eugene Wood and lived in Florida, Theodosia, and Springfield, but Branson was always considered home and she moved back there in 1992. Ginny was a long-time volunteer at Skaggs Hospital and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Branson where she attended before her health declined. She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Lauralee Purtell. Survivors are two sisters and their husbands: Charlotte Vollrath and Harold K. of Kansas City, Patricia Purtell and John of Springfield; a niece, Pamela Purtell of Kansas City; two step-children, Jody Trickler and Patrick Wood both of Florida; several cousins and many friends. Funeral service will be Friday, June 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, Branson. Burial will follow in the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery.
