Virginia Mason Harpe Taylor, 78, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Grand Strand Health Care. She was born March 26, 1924, in Greenville, a daughter of the late Edward Bacon and Margie Mauney Mason. She was predeceased by her husband, Hoy Taylor Jr.; a sister, Gladys M. King; and a brother, Edward Mason. She was a graduate of Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a nurse at Ocean View Memorial Hospital and was a private-duty nurse in Myrtle Beach. She later worked in the heart unit at the VA Hospital in Asheville, N.C. After moving back to Myrtle Beach, she and her husband operated the Oceanaire Motel until they retired. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Mason Harpe, of Myrtle Beach; her son, A. Stanley Harpe, and his wife, Joye, of Columbia; her stepchildren, Stephen H. Taylor, and his wife, Kathy, of San Antonia, Texas, Lucy T. Inman of Atlanta, Ga., and John D. Taylor of Isle of Palms; six grandchildren, Mason Stanley Harpe, Anne C. Taylor, Beth L. Taylor, Catherine Inman, Taylor Inman and Lizzy Inman; and a sister, Ruth McNeace, of Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, with the Rev. Ken Timmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight, from 5 7 p.m., at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
