Virginia Louise Carter, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Virginia was born July 10, 1925, in Springfield, to William Ross and Bessie Edna (Crabb) Stallings. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Howard and Leonard Stallings; and two sisters, Muriel Dysart and Avis Hughlett. Virginia is survived by her husband, Max; children, Leslie, Terry and Celesta Carter; grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan and Michael; great-grandchildren, Jody, Kevin, Madison, Gabrielle, Katie, Brendon, Olivia and Isaiah; a brother, Don Stallings; and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 19, 2009, at 2 p.m., in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home, 1635 N. Benton, Springfield, Mo. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, 2009, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the funeral home. Family would like to express their appreciation to Oxford Hospice.
